5 Cheap DIY Ways To Organize Makeup

Perhaps it’s time to start thinking about ways to organize makeup and make your life easier. Luckily, there are plenty of easy and affordable DIY ways to organize makeup that doesn’t require an expensive trip to the store and hours spent making everything look pretty. Here are five of the best.

1) Utilize clear storage containers

One of my favorite ways to organize makeup is with clear storage containers. When I need an item, I simply open up a container and quickly locate what I’m looking for. Clear storage solutions are perfect for anyone who tends to switch between different palettes. That’s because they allow you to easily see what you have on hand and which colors you need more of when it comes time to restock your makeup collection. It also makes it really easy to spot duplicates that can be donated or passed along for someone else to enjoy.

2) Use simple drawer dividers

A quick way to get organize makeup drawer organized is to use cheap dividers or even egg crates (those plastic dividers used for eggs). Stack them on top of each other and separate products by type. For example, make one section for eye products, another for lipsticks, and a third for brushes. If you have too many products for each of these sections, use smaller crates instead of big ones. Another tip is to keep makeup on your dresser or vanity so that you can see it at all times. It will be much harder to lose track of where things are if they’re in plain sight.

3) DIY Jewelry organizer

A jewelry box isn’t your only option when it comes to organizing jewelry. In fact, instead of running out and spending big bucks on an expensive storage unit, why not try a DIY alternative? This idea for a DIY jewelry organizer is cheap and easy.

All you need is some scrap wood (could be particle board) and a piece of glass—you can often get these materials free from a local glass shop. Then, just adhere them together with some E6000 glue and you have yourself a customized way to keep your earrings and necklaces organized. The tip here is to use brackets at either end of your project so that it remains stable on top of whatever surface you choose. As for colors, you can do whatever you like best!

4) Get a makeup box

You can buy a makeup box from your local drugstore or from online shops. Once you have your own makeup box, you can start categorizing your products and dividing them into smaller boxes for each category. If there is more than one type of product in a category, divide them further into subcategories.

5) Create a Magnetic Board

You know those shiny metal boards you see at Pinterest-y shops? Turns out they’re insanely cheap and easy to make. All you need is a thin piece of wood (like a 1×2), some strong magnets, and painter’s tape. Measure your board, then mark your magnet placement about 3/4 from each edge and about 2 apart from one another. Hammer in your first couple of magnets by hand, then use a nail or screwdriver if it gets too difficult. Repeat with all four edges until every side has two permanent magnets.
